Frenchy hotspot Le Crocodile (and New York Times three-star brasserie) is notorious for their roast chicken. Like maybe the best chicken ever, kind of chicken. Glazed in herb jus and served with the most perfectly golden, crispy frites, you'll consider taking up residency in the boutique Wythe Hotel just for this chicken. And maybe for the Jonah crab with avocado and ice cream-filled profiteroles, too.

Le Crocodile hits that romantic restaurant middle ground: a low-lit vibe cool enough for an early (but important) date, and food that more than holds up on a birthday or anniversary. The bar here, staffed by a handful of white jacket-wearing waiters, feels busy but never crowded, thanks to the high ceilings and lengthy dining room. If date plans include dinner, know that Le Crocodile comes from the same team behind Chez Ma Tante, a favorite brunch spot in NYC, with French fare like escargot, buttery leeks, and a shareable plate of chicken that’s not to be missed.

The original boutique hotel built in and for Williamsburg, Wythe Hotel is launching a cinematic Valentine’s Day experience to celebrate love in all forms. On February 13–19, Wythe Hotel will launch A Picture of Love, a series of film screenings for overnight guests that explore the ever-changing definitions of love. In addition to industrial-chic accommodations, a stunning dinner for two at the ground level French brasserie Le Crocodile and a champagne greet, Wythe Hotel will show a curated film series in the Screening Room, complete with retro furnishing and velvet seats.

The food at Le Crocodile is satisfying and unpretentious, which is just about the opposite of what you expect from a hotel restaurant with tiled floors, a massive menu, and waiters in white jackets strolling around like they just finished catering the PGA tour in 1930. Try this place for your next big night out that calls for roast chicken, french fries, and an ice-cold martini. Surprisingly, it's easy to get a last-minute table.
